Patch for Italian co-belligerent volunteers in the U.S. Army. The I.S.U. (Italian Service Unit)  existed only from May 1944 to October 1945. It was made up of Italian prisoners of war, who had decided to support the allies in the war against the Germans. The patch was worn on the left arm in an unusual position, midway between the shoulder and elbow.
