Pith helmet for an Italian Medical Department Officer. The helmet, definitely  british made and manner, is a booty of war. After the fall of Tobruk many Italian and German soldiers kitted themselves with the british equipment found in the city's deposits, however this practice was used by all adversaries , especially on the African front. The helmet has a beautiful patina of use and time. Complete of all his parts. Coined brass front badge of the Medical Department applied on a tricoloured wool cockade. At the helmet was, at the time, applied a layer of white distemper, as was often done, to decrease the effects of sunlight.
